I need your imput!

A bit ago, after reading a post from Amber over at
I was so inspired and decided to search my local Craigs List.
I wasn't looking for anything specific, just something interesting.  Here is what I found....

I know that it doesnt look that great, my children have told me, but it was SO cheap.
I really think that there is a lot of potential here.  It is a great size, with wonderful lines, the fabric is just yucky.  No biggie, it just needs new fabric right?  How hard can that be?
Now I must tell you, I have never recovered anything before, ever.  But this little love seat seemed like the perfect chance to learn how.  I knew that I would need some major help,
so I enlisted the help of Jen, from Tatertots and Jello.
Her enthusiasm gave me the extra motivation I needed to charge ahead.

So here is my dilema,  I cannot decide what type of fabric to use!?
Part of me, the conservative side, wants to go a very neutral route.  Safe and simple, something like this from Crate and Barrel.

But the other side of me is telling me to do something BOLD and fun, something that I wouldn't risk doing on a piece of furniture that cost more than the small amount of cash in my wallet.
Something more like this from Anthropologie.

I know, I know, they are opposite ends of the spectrum.  But aren't they both Wonderful?!

The other problem is, that I don't know where in my house the finished product will go.
{I figure that will be determined after I see how well it turns out}

What do you think?  I would LOVE your imput!

  1. Those are both so fun! I love the print, but it probably makes more sense to go with the neutral one. You found a gem!!

  2. It makes sense to go with neutral but bold would be much more fun and if you found something with colors that will go with many things it would be cool. Bol would show the chair off more.

  4. What a great find! I love both idea! I think I would probably go with the first one and add fun throw pillows for a pop of color. Can't wait to see the end result!

  7. Not only will pattern cover up imperfections (afterall this is your first time) and spills (you are a mother), but it is so much happier! And if you got it cheap, go look on the bargain shelves for cheap fabric that you like and go with it!

  9. Sarah,
First off, I think you should go bold! I love the couch too. Great find :)
In response to the chickens, I have three. They are molting right now so they don't lay as many eggs as they normally do. A good week gives me 18 eggs and a normal week is around a dozen. That is perfect for our family of 6. Thanks for the comments on my blog. You are so sweet!
